Yoga is for Everyone!

Yoga is for everyone!  A practice dating back thousands of years, yoga is here to stay.  In fact, it is one of the only approaches that assist in keeping your body healthy, strong, flexible, and vital while simultaneously providing mental clarity and emotional wellbeing. Open to any level of experience, The Yoga Studio combines ancient tradition with innovation. Upbeat and progressive, all classes are held in a hot or heated room. Offering a wide variety of classes and pricing options you are certain to find one to suit your needs.  If you are present, breathing, and trying your best you’ll notice the benefits immediately. Reaching beyond any limitation, you’ll soon find the rhythm, let go, and breathe.

Hot Vinyasa

Our signature class inspired by Karen’s teacher, Jonny Kest, is characterized by eclectic, (at times) loud music ranging from the Beatles to Eminem. The energy of these classes is contagious and practiced in a room where temperatures range between 90-95 degrees. The teacher will guide you through a unique sequence of postures, where you’ll link breath and movement. Hot Vinyasa is the studio’s most dynamic, free-flowing class. Stepping out of your comfort zone, you’re set free to explore the balance of this vigorous practice; an experience that will keep you coming back for more.

If you are new to a yoga practice, we recommend your first class be a “Slow Flow.”  Focusing on fluid movement, this class incorporates all aspects of a hot Vinyasa practice and yet flows with a somewhat lighter pace than other vigorous.

Slow Flow

The name may be a bit misleading, but the elements are the same as Hot Vinyasa. Our most popular class with temperatures reaching approximately 90 degrees, it is set to softer music and develops strength and flexibility through a slower, more guided pace. Some series of postures are repeated several times to give students an opportunity to “work” on each pose and, depending on the teacher, may include some free-flowing. From beginners to advanced students, Slow Flow is opened to anyone willing to explore yoga’s fullest potential.

Power Yoga

This is the most traditional class that The Yoga Studio offers. Guided through a sequence of classical postures, where the breathing system naturally detoxifies the body, it contains elements of strength, flexibility, and endurance. Postures can be held for 30 seconds or more, giving the student a real chance to explore the pose and find their edge while focusing on the breath and the journey “inward.” Set to soothing, uplifting music, this class welcomes beginning to advanced students. Power is actually short for empowerment and that is the goal of this class…to truly empower the student.

Ashtanga Flow

Based on the eight limb path of yoga, this is a traditional practice with slight variations. You’ll have the opportunity to learn postures from the primary series of Ashtanga yoga. This class is ideal for beginner students wishing to learn more about the basics of each posture as well as the advanced practitioner desiring to take some of the postures to new levels. The “predictability” of Ashtanga makes this a fun class for anyone seeking an understanding of the foundations from which all classes at The Yoga Studio are built.

Morning Flow

A beautiful way to begin your day!  This one hour class will give you all the benefits of our traditional Slow Flow but with a softer edge.  Basic yoga postures will include standing and balancing poses to incorporate a full range of spinal movement and the class will end with restorative poses and relaxation.  This class will be around 80 degrees.

Evening Flow

A peaceful way to finish your day! This class brings Hot Vinyasa and Slow flow together for a truly unique yoga experience. Similar to our traditional flowing classes, Evening Flow will give you all the powerful benefits of the yoga practice, but with a softer and gentler approach. Restorative and meditation included. End your day the right way with Evening Flow! This class will be around 75 degrees.

Candlelight Vinyasa

Comparable to our traditional Vinyasa class, only with a more relaxed edge. This heated, one-hour evening class will combine moving meditation, creative flows, and breathwork, with gentle music to enhance your experience. This class will be around 90 degrees.

Restorative Yin

Allow yourself to relax as you move into stillness and melt away stress.  Soothing music sets the tone as you begin with gentle stretching, followed by restorative postures and a few standing poses to ignite energy and build strength.  The remainder of the class uses guided meditation and poses held for several minutes, allowing students to achieve a level of relaxation and meditation, unlike any other yoga class.  For those with a daily Vinyasa practice, this class is a must!  Vinyasa is dynamic and physically challenging (yang).  When done too frequently, without an opposing yin, the body can become fatigued and more susceptible to injuries.  This class is the perfect complement to your practice.  Bring back the balance you’ve been missing – Restorative Yin will leave you feeling peaceful, centered and rejuvenated!

Hatha Flow

Drawing on the ancient traditions of Hatha Yoga, this all-level class links breath with movement in a gentle, flowing sequence. A balance of sustained postures and moving meditation, this practice both restores and revitalizes the body and mind. Strong emphasis on alignment enhances the therapeutic benefits of the postures. Modifications are always offered in order to customize the practice to the student’s individual level and/or specific physical issues. A thoroughly relaxing yet energizing experience.

Yoga Meets Pilates

Experience the power of Pilates core work to tighten your abs, support the spine and create a healthier back and better posture. Expect s full-body workout that combines breath and movement to build strength, flexibility, and endurance. Enjoy the healing, restorative Yoga poses to release tension and stress in the body and calm the mind.

Slow Restore

This class is designed to relieve stress with grounding postures and breathing techniques, ending in meditation. The flows are nourishing, simple and slow to increase flexibility and coordination and access the relaxation response in the body. We will use props and end with yoga nidra or meditation, using ancient methods to restore peace in the mind and body.

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa Flow is a hybrid version of our Slow Flow and Hot Vinyasa style classes, where temperatures in the room will range between 90-95 degrees. This class will have softer music, a slower pace, and more flows with shorter sequences of postures. Having fewer postures in each series invites the opportunity to take your focus inward to build strength and ease within each posture in the flow. Teachers will guide you at the beginning of each series of postures so you can focus on breath and the sequencing of postures. When flowing on your own, you can create a space to go deeper into each posture as you repeat each series several times at your own pace. This class will have a moderate blend of guided and free-flowing yoga with postures accessible to all skill levels. It is designed to develop focused breathing, strength, balance, and flexibility. Perfect for ALL LEVELS.

Taiji and Qigong

Taiji is a Chinese form of exercise originally developed as a martial art that uses very slow and controlled movements. Qigong is an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention. Studies conclude that the Evidence-Based Traditional Taiji (EBTTM) Program is effective for healthy older adults for lower body strength; force control (a neurological function); improved functional balance; improved vestibular function (a mechanism of improved balance); improved immune function (response to flu vaccine); and complex, holistic benefits combining five dimensions of experience: physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual.

Movement and Meditation

A practice incorporating movement, yin, and meditation. A balance between these components of the yoga practice to help return us to our true nature – bliss. Leave feeling restored and renewed, ready to take on whatever comes your way.
